In an interview with Mother Theresa, a reporter asked her how she found the strength and hope to work day after day in the middle of so much suffering. Mother Theresa replied, “One day a long time ago I went to nurse a woman with leprosy. Her body was covered with sores. So, I began the slow work of tending to the sores up and down her arms. And when I reached her hand, I saw a sore in the middle of her hand that looked like it went though. And I thought to myself, My Lord has holes in his hands. Then I prayed, ‘Lord, is this you?’”

I lived north of Seattle several years ago and would take advantage of the few sunny days we would have by walking to work. It gave me time to enjoy the day before the business part of life began. One day, I started the two and a half mile walk through the neighborhoods as I talked with Yahweh about my day. I was sharing with Him my joys and my frustrations, and thanking Him for always guiding me and seeing me through the ups and downs in life.

Who is Penelope? I guess that all depends on if you are asking who I am today, or who I was yesterday. If you want to know about the old me... that is a person I am thankful I no longer am. We all have a past; one filled with hurts and mistakes that are painful and sometimes even too painful to relive. Most of us do our best to forget those times along with the person we once were. None of us are perfect, yet it's through those mistakes that we have become the person we are today.

Have you ever taken the time to watch God create a morning? For those that hate to get up early, it's a chore, but try setting your alarm clock so that you are awake and can get a front row seat to this incredible morning miracle. It's well worth it. It comes quietly. It comes softly. But it comes filled with majesty and awe as the darkness slowly fades and brilliant colors begin to fill the sky. What an incredible moment.
